Interclub battle with Bolton Camera Club
We had our annual Battle with Bolton Camera Club last night (12/07/18) and they were excellent hosts as usual. Unfortunately, however we were soundly beaten and Bolton had their revenge for us winning last time we did Battle with them. That's how it goes sometimes and it's he taking part that matters and should be enjoyable which it was.
The judge last night was Jane Lines MPAGB, LRPS, BPE5. Jane had a very difficult task and we are of course grateful for her deliberations and comments and she scored our and Bolton's prints and D.P.Is. as follows:
On the prints we scored 165 pts. to Bolton's 181pts.
On the D.P.Is. we scored 172pts to Bolton's 173pts.
Our best image on the night was Sue Tydd's " The Kiss" scoring 20pts. Well done Sue.
A number of Swinton's members were able to attend last night and I'm grateful to them for their company and valuable assistance with double checking of the scoring and noting the judges comments. Thanks to all of you.
We were made very welcome by Bolton's President, their Competition and Syllabus Secretaries, and indeed their other members and the result apart we had an enjoyable night. No doubt we will arrange a return with them next year and hopefully be able to win that one.

Interclub battle with Rochdale Photographic Society
We had our first ever Inter-Club Battle with Rochdale Photographic Society on 09/07/18 and ran out out winners with a grand total of 339pts. to Rochdale's 329Pts.
On the prints we scored 165 pts. to Rochdale's 171 pts. With our member Tony Cowcill's Print titled:- "Dawn At Perth Boathouse" scoring the maximum 20 pts.
We were fortunate to pull back the deficit of 6pts. from the prints round with a score of 174pts. to Rochdale's 158pts on the D.P.Is. with two images:- "Neist Point Lighthouse" by Tom Gandy and "Eagle Owl" (Bubo bubo) both scoring a maximum of 20pts. each.
Some very high quality images were on show making the task for judge Ove Alexander C.A.P.G.B. all the more difficult. He did superbly well to judge and mark them and we are indebted to him for his work and comments. A great night for Swinton and our commiserations to Rochdale. I am sure they will seek to win on our return next battle with them next time.
